Each one seems to get more and more involved and since I didn't have this problem until the instant after the upgrade I deduced that this is what caused the problem. I have had difficulties with each upgrade since 8.0 and I have had to troubleshoot to get my phone to function again.

We can't identify what software was causing the glitch but my backup on my laptop can only be used to pull data from. We went through all of the troubleshooting again, then had to do the "Erase all Content and Settings." This finally worked so the rep said it was a software issue, not a settings issue. Luckily the Apple Support called me right before I was considering this. They then suggested I pull the SIM card which I wasn't keen on doing. They were nice enough to walk me through all of the troubleshooting that the Apple site and you guys suggested but alas, no luck. There was nothing wrong with their service. I did contact Verizon after KiltedTim suggested this. I did a backup to my computer, a reset, then a restore to my backup, which didn't work at midnight last night.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support See this support document for instructions on restoring your device to factory. Try restoring to factory, then testing the device for a short period of time to see if you still experience rapid battery drainage. Restoring to a backup, which you said you did, could just restore the problem files back to the device. The rapid loss of battery can be due to a number of things as well, such as a stuck process or corrupt data in your files.

Do you see an error message if you attempt to backup to iCloud? As far as your cellular connection, have you checked in Settings to ensure that cellular data is turned on? Have you checked in Settings to ensure you have no restrictions on? If you have done all of that, have you checked with your carrier to ensure there is no problem with your account as far as cellular data is concerned? There could be any number of reasons that you cannot get the backup to work. Apple does not support a path for downgrading. Now, I am noticing that my battery is losing power very quickly. I ended up backing it up to my MacBook last night and restored it but that didn't work either. my iPhone 5 is acting like an iPod touch, essentially, in that regard. Also, none of my apps, including Safari, Mail, FB, etc. Backing up the phone over wifi does not work. there are multiple things not working on my phone. I understand that I cannot backup the phone over a cellular connection. Disgruntled in Portland and thinking Samsung is in my future. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions and help that I have not already mentioned above is welcome. I am ready to reset the whole thing but without a backup I am afraid of losing all of my contacts. It works fine when connected to wifi but once I leave the house none of my apps will function (google maps, Facebook, apple mailbox, anything requiring cellular-which is everything!) I have done all of the simple fixes that I know about and can find on the internet: restart, hold down apple button and power off to reboot, turn off cellular and back on, turn off wifi and back on, reset network settings, logout of iCloud and log back in, removed all my pictures/reset backup settings so there is plenty of storage on my cloud, stood on my head, spun left, and none of it worked. However, now my phone will not connect to apps via cellular, siri does not work, and the phone will not backup. I just updated to 9.3.1 from 9.2, thinking Apple had solved all the issues reported with 9.3.
